What is ERSS
The Effective Strategies to Manage Event Risk, Safety and Security Conference (ERSS) 2010 is a unique platform for sharing best practice and effective strategies to manage critical issues of risk, safety and security which apply to every public or participant event, large or small.
Never have the fear and risk associated with organising events been so high on the agenda of event organisers. A plethora of high profile incidents have highlighted the ‘risks’ associated with global sports events in particular. The fatal ambush of the Sri Lankan Cricket team in Lahore, 2009, and the attack on the Togo football team in Angola at the Africa Cup of Nations, 2010 are just two of the many examples!
Each aspect of event management has a potential risk. Whatever the hazard or threat, the risks accrue to participants, organisers, other stakeholders and the environment. This can generate problems in terms of personal health and injuries, finance, marketing, the law, community relations and political support amongst others.

A limited understanding of the latest legislation, including the Corporate Manslaughter and Homicide Act, 2007, unclear liability and an increasingly litigious climate are cause for concern within all sectors of the events industry. Ensuring health, safety and security best practices are adhered to can be a complicated, intricate and time consuming process with risk assessment being fraught with challenges for all event organisers, owners and Governing bodies.
As a direct result of these concerns ERSS 2010 will bring together 250 senior event risk, safety and security decision-makers, event professionals and key influencers for two days of intense debate and discussions. This leading-edge conference will provide a wealth of practical information, management solutions and case studies from a variety of events, all delivered by industry experts, to ensure you have the opportunity to learn and share best practice with industry leaders, peers and colleagues.
From small scale sports competitions, to village fetes and the Olympics, this is a must attend event for all event risk, safety and security professionals.
